Why Do I Chase Big Dreams?

I’m lying here on my back just thinking—First, thanking the Lord. Second, reflecting on this deep knowing I have inside me. A knowing of success, being able to do, give, and love. A knowing that what I’m building will revitalize not just people’s spirits—but possibly the economy, maybe even the political system.

And in this moment, I ask myself: Why do I chase after dreams that are so big?

I truly believe my heart is set on changing the world. But for me, changing the world starts with changing the spaces directly around me—Being a ripple for the Lord. Being the salt and light right where I stand. Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14)

I recently talked about vision in my women’s group on Facebook during a live session. One of the key things I shared was this:

What’s the difference between a dream and a vision?

Dreams—often—they’re more personal. Sometimes selfish. And that’s okay. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming big for yourself. But visions? Visions are God-given assignments. They impact the community. They transform systems. They reform the broken things that no longer serve us when we operate at our lowest frequency.

Visions elevate us out of a survival, scarcity mindset—The "reptilian," worldly mode of thinking that says we must go against God or look out for self first. Instead, they move us into a Kingdom mindset.A Christ mindset.

A mindset that says: “I’m here for the people. ”I’m here for a purpose."’Im here for more.”

Romans 12:2 reminds us: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—His good, pleasing, and perfect will.”

When you ask God, “What is the scary thing You’ve placed on my heart that I’m supposed to do?”He starts aligning your life—whether you're walking in perfect obedience or fumbling through the lessons.

He’s that faithful.

I don’t believe in good or bad anymore. I believe everything, yes, everything—is divine in God’s kingdom. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

So maybe the question isn’t “Is this good or bad?” Maybe the better question is: Am I being accountable? Am I walking in obedience?

Because when you shift your perspective like that, you start to see that the hard things and the beautiful things—they’re all tools in the hands of a sovereign God.

So today, I want to encourage you: Sit with the Lord.

What is the one thing you're afraid to do? Is it launching a YouTube channel? Starting that podcast?Hosting your first meetup? Engaging more in your local community?Feeding the homeless more often?

Whatever it is—what’s the vision God gave you that you’re ignoring? And what’s the vision you are acting on—but maybe it’s time to pause and talk with God about the next step?

Habakkuk 2:2-3 says, “Write the vision and make it plain… though it tarries, wait for it; it will surely come.”

Let God breathe on that vision again. Let Him remind you who you are. Let Him remind you why your dream feels so big—because it is. And because He’s in it.

Chase the vision. Have faith. Be bold.

He who called you is faithful, and He will do it. (1 Thessalonians 5:24)
